Charity Commission registration number 275238.

Opening hours:- 10 - 1pm every day (including weekends and Bank Holidays), no appointment needed.

We are only a rehoming charity. If you find an ill or injured cat please take it to the nearest vet asap. They have a duty of care to treat an animal to prevent it suffering.

Unfortunately we do not have enough helpers to answer all the phone calls that we get (Tel 01206 864284) - please visit us during opening hours or email us instead on mail@colchestercatrescue.org.uk
Or please contact us through our Facebook page.

  • Please see our CatChat page (see the link above) for photos of some of the cats we have.

  • Also, see our Facebook page for more photos and background to the cats we have, and what is happening at the Sanctuary.

  • We do not usually take in any pedigrees except perhaps Persian cats. If you are looking to rescue a pedigree cat (they need rehoming too just like ordinary moggies) please go to our Cat Related Links page and go to the CatChat website at www.catchat.org then Adopt a Cat, then Pedigree Rescues which are shown A - Z by breed.

  • All cats have been fully vet checked prior to admission to the Sanctuary - flea and worm treated, vaccinated, and neutered (if over 4 months old), microchipped, all of which can cost up to about £150 from most vets. Please bear this in mind when making donations to us.

  • Please read the page "Homing A Cat..." before looking at the cats listed below. You will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire about your circumstances and other suitability checks. We try to ensure that we rehome a cat suitable for your circumstances.

  • Please do not be offended if you are refused a particular cat or kitten. We take our rehoming responsibilities seriously and if we think a cat isn’t suitable, we will explain why.
We get to know them very well and we have many years' experience predicting where, and with whom, a cat or kitten will fit in so that they do not have to come back to us, which is very disorientating for them.

  • All cats are short haired, unless otherwise stated.

We have all ages, sizes and colours of cats at the Sanctuary, some to go in pairs, and some on their own.

It is a good idea to visit the Sanctuary during opening hours, as we have up to 50 cats for rehoming, and often their photos are not yet on our Facebook page.

For photos of some of the cats that we currently have, please go to our Facebook page or to our Catchat page (see links above.)

We are closed for Christmas from Thursday 20th December to Wednesday 26th December 2018 inclusive.
We re-open on Thursday 27th December to Saturday 30th December 2017, and are then closed New Year's Eve Monday 31st December 2018 and New Year's Day Tuesday 1st January 2019.
Normal morning opening starts again from Wednesday 2nd January 2019.

Opening hours:- 10 - 1pm every day (including weekends and Bank Holidays.)
