Fundraising and donating

Donate online now -
If you use eBay to buy or sell unwanted items, did you know we have a Charity Profile page?
You can either donate a percentage of the proceeds to our Charity when selling your items, or you can just make an online donation to help the cats of £5, £10, £25, £50 or other amount.
We receive 100% of your donations, which are all paid direct to our Charity through eBay’s charitable partner, the PayPal Giving Fund charity.

Pets At Home in Colchester support us as a partner Charity. and if you nominate your VIP Lifelines to go to us we can use these to buy much needed food for our cats and kittens.

1) Colchester Cat Rescue Charity Shop -
17 Eld Lane,
Colchester
CO1 1LS
01206 576085

Our Charity Shop is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. (Closed on all Bank Holidays and Christmas/Boxing Day.)

Please help us raise funds by bringing in goods for us to sell to raise money for the cats.
The shop may be easily reached from Vineyard St car park, by taking the stairs or lift up Vineyard Steps and turning right into Eld Lane. We are on the right opposite the Colchester Baptist Church.

We do have a loading bay opening from our basement into Vineyard St car park, if you have a large amount to donate, so please call the shop on Col. 576085 so we can give you directions and come down to unload your car. If you are just unloading you do not have to pay for car parking. Please phone us before coming in so that we canmake sure we have someone available.

We take donations of most items (except electrical goods, furniture and videos), so it is a good opportunity to help the cats by clearing out clothing, footwear, bags/cases, china, hardback/paperback books, soft furnishings/linen, toys, board games, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, CDs, cassette tapes, LPs and singles, kitchenware, unwanted gifts (eg. toiletries, perfume, cosmetics etc), ornaments, glassware, pictures, paintings, mirrors, watches and clocks.

2) Monthly Standing Orders/Donations/Legacies -
If you would like to help with the running of the Sanctuary, please email or write in for our standing order form.
Under the Gift Aid scheme we can reclaim 28p in every £1 if you are a taxpayer. So many kind people send us donations, but please let us know if you are a taxpayer so that we can send you one of our Gift Aid forms - we reclaim a substantial amount back from HM Revenue and Customs each year!
We have been fortunate enough to be remembered by some supporters in their wills, and these legacies have now enabled us to build an isolation unit to help cats that need to be confined to a pen due to injury, or to be kept isolated from our other residents. Your solicitor may need our Registered Charity number with the Charities Commission, no. 275238.

3) Friends of Colchester Cat Rescue - if you wish to become a member please write to us at the Sanctuary address in Bromley Rd, or email us. For £12 a year from 1st January we publish a quarterly newsletter informing members on what is happening behind the scenes at the Sanctuary, and updating you on stories about some of the cats. Payment preferred by standing order if possible rather than cheque, please write/email for a standing order form.

4) Lottery Club
For £12 a year (January - December, but pro rata if you join during the year) members are allocated two numbers and we use the National Lottery Bonus Ball numbers drawn on the first Wednesday and first Saturday of the month. If there is no winner the next Wednesday/Saturday numbers are checked, etc. (Colchester Cat Rescue is registered with Colchester Borough Council.) If you wish to join, please write to us at the Sanctuary, or email us. Payment preferred by standing order rather than cheque, please write/email for a standing order form.

5) Sponsor A Cat - we have some resident cats that we have been unable to home, for a variety of reasons. Some have medical conditions or behavioural problems, or are elderly, or are not able to cope with a domestic environment.
However, they live out their days in peace and comfort with us, and for a minimum donation of £12 per year contribution (which can also be paid by standing order) to their upkeep you will receive a sponsorship certificate and a colour picture of the cat, as well as a birthday card from your chosen cat(s) on your birthday.
Pictures of the cats may be viewed at the Charity Shop, and also at the Sanctuary. Please write to the Sanctuary or email us for further information.
